Meet Shannon Badger, CPA. Shannon is a CPA specializing in business profit coaching, accounting systems, and back-office best practices. She co-founded Badger in 2014 with her husband, Jonathan.

Before launching Badger, Shannon graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Finance. She began her career at Ernst and Young, gaining experience in budgeting, technical accounting, and risk analysis.

Shannon and her husband have been married for 15 years and are proud parents of Judah, Ethan, Christian, and Sarah.

Q. What activity or person from your youth influenced you most and provided you with life wisdom?

A. Shannon’s parents were her greatest influences. Her father taught her humility, patience, and unconditional love, while her mother emphasized integrity, always putting forth her best effort, and treating others as you wish to be treated. Her involvement in competitive sports also instilled teamwork, leadership, and a competitive spirit.

A. Colleagues describe Shannon as strategic, with a keen understanding of the big picture. She helps clients evaluate what is working and what isn’t, guiding them to course-correct effectively. Shannon truly cares about her clients, team, and their success, viewing her position as waking up each day to help others.

Q. What would you say is the biggest opportunity for your clients today to achieve financial wellness?

A. Shannon believes the biggest opportunity for clients to achieve financial wellness involves understanding business finances, creating a budget and tracking to your goals, building a solid customer base and diversifying revenue, and having an emergency fund and low debt. She emphasizes the importance of separating personal and business finances, paying oneself appropriately, and seeking professional guidance. Surrounding oneself with accountable and insightful advisors is also crucial.

A. The core values that resonate most with Shannon are “people first” and “hustle.” She believes that putting people first improves company culture and encourages leaders to appreciate the individuals who make the company successful. The value of “hustle” is essential for growing and scaling the business, seeing hard projects through, and going above and beyond for clients. Shannon operates her business in alignment with her faith, striving to be who God calls her to be in the marketplace.
